BOOK REVIEW: Men and Dreams In the Dhauladhar
When I came to know about this book, I was first intrigued by the title of the book. I was even more fascinated as I read the blurb that made me grab the book and read it. It took me around 4 sittings to complete the book. The book cover is decent and relatable. (If I had to judge this book by its cover only, maybe, I wouldn’t have chosen to read it. But the book blurb did its job pretty well.)
Men and the dreams In the Dhauldhar is the story of three different people who meet each other accidentally in the Dhauldhar. Nanda, Kusru, and Rekha are main characters around whom the story plot revolves. Each one of them has a secret past that they are hiding. Their and many other lives change when a Hydro-electric project is approved and a dam is to be constructed.
The plot basically highlights the lives of the people that are involved in the dam construction project and terrorism.
Although the story is set in the Dhauladhar (Himalayan Range), there is the mention of many other places too which you will get to know as the story progresses. The story plot is quite interesting and gripping. The pace is fast and I found the story quite engaging. Each character adds value to the plot.
Other than that, I being an architect by profession have to say that there are certain technical details in the book which would be difficult to grasp for other people. Maybe, they will have to skip that part if they read the book. Overall, it’s a good book. I highly suggest you read the book and share with your loved ones too. It’s definitely worth a try. I would love to read more in future by the author, Mr. Kochery C. Shibu.
