Books That Inspire 2017
Sammy is an 80-year-old billionaire, who finds himself at the peak of his success built on a mountain of sacrifices. He decides to participate in a life he missed to live. Eleven months in a year he leaves behind his identity and money and allows his curiosity and his willingness to experience anything—death even, to take him on life-changing adventures and experiences across the world.
Loaded with wisdom, surprise, humour and an eagerness to embrace life, The Wise Man Said is a collection of twelve such adventures of Sammy, where his journey becomes his greatest achievement—a life well lived!
Sammy (The Wise Man), the protagonist of the story or I rather say stories, is an 80-year-old billionaire, who owns 32 companies, who one day wakes up to the reality, the truth of what he has created with his life all these years. He decides to make up for his ignorance & makes up his mind to spend 11 out of 12 months travelling across the globe without money.
He walks, he climbs, he swims and dives. Those countless rides, on the road, on the planes, on the boat and what not. The way he manages all of that is what makes this journey really interesting and full of learning. His purpose is strong- to contribute.
In the wise man’s words,”I have travelled through cities and villages alike. But the further I went away from the hustle, the closer I came to Humanity.” As the wise man travels the places, a message, a learning & sometimes much more unfold to him. These are the lessons that help him nourish his mind and his soul.
He feels alive each passing day as if there is no tomorrow, and some stories describe this so beautifully.
Here are some of my favourite quotes that are so beautifully written at the end of each chapter making it even more valuable.

“If you don’t have a plan, a map for your life, you will keep circling, going round and round, covering a lot of distance, but not getting anywhere.”

A few more lines…
“When you sleep with baggage, you collect more when your eyes open. When you sleep in pain, it deepens as you arise. The sleep that wakes you out of spiritual ignorance is the one where your body rests and your soul rejoices, in a day well lived.”
